NIGERIAN MAN WHO IS A PRISON GUARD IN THE U.S ARRESTED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING PRISON INMATES

A Nigerian correctional officer in the United states of America has been charged with sexually assaulting an inmate while on duty at a Clarksburg, Maryland, facility.

The officer, identified as Olukunle Oyekanmi attached to the Montgomery County Department of Correction and Rehabilitation was accused of sexually assaulting an adult inmate who identifies as a woman in her cell at the Clarksburg correctional facility around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, police said Wednesday.

Oyekanmi was on duty at the time, police also told Wtop.com.

The correctional facility staff was notified about the assault and reviewed video surveillance that showed Oyekanmi in the victim’s cell during the period of the alleged assault.

The 41-year-told accused officer later admitted to detective that he sexually assaulted the victim in the cell. Police arrested him at his residence and transported him to the Central Processing Unit. He was released after posting a $20,000 bond, Fox5dc.com reported.

He is charged with one count each of second-degree sex offense, second-degree assault, sexual contact with an inmate and malfeasance in office.

On a tip of information, Niger state Police Command arrested one Mustapha Abdullahi age 32 years old for having unlawful sexual intercourse with four young boys ages 12 to 15 through their anus.

Suspect has been charged to court.

6 NIGERIANS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED KIDNAPPING AND RAPE

A 32 year- old Nigerian is in the grip of the police for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 21 year old woman at Ashaley Botwe, near Accra under the pretext of giving her an Eid-ul Fitr present.

Five other Nigerians alleged to have also assaulted the woman have also been arrested by the police.

They are Ike Amechi, Anthony Emmanuel, Godfred Alex, Koyode Ayodele and Opious Owner

The main suspect, Steven Johnson Chimaroke, was said to have met the woman on Facebook and invited her over to his house at Ashaley Botwe, near Accra where the alleged incident occurred.

All the six suspects have been charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit crime

Chimaroke and his five alleged accomplices were said to have initially resisted arrest and made an attempt to bolt leading to the police firing warning shots.

Briefing the Daily Graphic , the Accra Regional Police Commander of Operations, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, said Chimaroke and the young woman were friends on Facebook and had been interacting regularly.

According to him, Chimaroke convinced the lady to come to his house, which was a four-bedroom house where he lived with the five accomplices, for an Eid-ul <\a>Fitr present.

The woman, he said, then left her residence at Nungua Zongo to Chimaroke’s house for the said present.

When she got to the house, Chief Superintendent Ofori, said Chimaroke, instead of giving her the present asked her to sleep with him, but the woman refused.

“Chimaroke made advances and when she resisted, he smashed her phone and raped her. Fortunately for her, she had another phone on her, which she used to call her brothers, who later called the police to go and rescue her,’’ he said.

He explained that the victim got to the house around 10am but she managed to call her brothers at about 2pm.

During the period, Chief Superintendent Ofori, revealed that Chimaroke raped the woman repeatedly, while the five alleged accomplices mocked and assaulted her

The brothers, he said, called the police and the Alpha Swat Team of the Accra Regional Police Command and the Lake Side Police Command invaded the house to rescue the victim.

He added that the police found a bowl of gari missed with sugar and water which the victim was given as her meal for the day by her kidnappers

ITALIAN KIDNAPPER ARRESTED IN DELTA STATE

50-year-old Italian kidnapper, Blessing Fernando, who reportedly abducted a victim in Delta State, was arrested at Ogbe-Isoko community where he went to collect an additional ransom of N50,000 from the victim’s relatives, having collected N250,000 initially.

The suspect who stays at Evowe Quarters of Ozoro in Isoko North LGA., was paraded alongside 22 suspected kidnappers and three armed at the command headquarters in Asaba yesterday. According to the state Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, the kidnapping syndicate had terrorised Ozoro and its environs for years.

“He was arrested at a scene where he came to collect ransom of additional sum of N50,000 from the victim’s relatives having robbed the victim the sum of N250,000. Effort to arrest other fleeing gang members is on course as case will be charged to court soon,” the commissioner said.

According to NewTelegraph, upon interrogation, the suspect, who confessed to be a member of the kidnapping syndicate, said he was co-opted under duress after he was duped of N600,000.

He said:

“They forced me to become their member, if I must get back my money.

My desperation to recover my money from them has landed me in this mess. They told me to go and wait at the scene where I was arrested for somebody who will bring some money from which they will offset what they had defrauded me.”

Fernando said his mother hailed from Isoko ethnic group in Delta State while his father was an Italian.

2 NIGERIAN MEN ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY NEAR GHANA’S PRESIDENTIAL VILLA

Two Nigerian men have landed in trouble for daylight robbery near the presidential palace in Ghana. The two suspected robbers who have been apprehended – reportedly deflated the tyres of their victim at the Flagstaff House traffic light and snatched GH¢6,000 (0ver 400 thousand naira) he had withdrawn from a bank at Osu.

According to 3News, the daylight robbery reportedly occurred Wednesday afternoon. The two suspects, Ndubueze Odoemenam and Chiokoko Amadie, according to the Cantonment Divisional Commander, ACP Winfred Frimpong, trailed their victim from a bank in Osu.

The police said the victim stopped at the traffic light at Flagstaff House but suddenly realised that he had a flat tyre when the green light came on.

The victim, the police said, pulled over to the side to check what happened. Just as the victim got down to check the fault, two guys on a motorbike zoomed past him and snatched the money he had withdrawn together with the envelope. ACP Frimpong said another motor bike rider pursued the robbers and hit the one ridding the bike with his helmet leading to an accident at 37 Military Hospital.

The accident reportedly caused the money to spread on the road attracting commuters, some of whom began to mete instance justice on the three riders.

They were, however, saved by ASP Nanka Bruce, who was returning from a duty point.

GH¢5,250 out of the GH¢6,000 belonging to the victim was also retrieved.

A young Nigerian woman who tricked a string of lonely hearts into sending her more than £100,000 in an online dating scam is facing jail. Grace Akintaro, 24, posed as a woman called Amanda Jenson and chatted online to seven men who believed they may have found love. .

She convinced her victims to send money for travel and expenses, but she then gave excuses for pulling out of face-to-face meetings. At Woolwich crown court yesterday, Akintaro, from Greenwich, pleaded guilty to seven counts of fraud by false representation on the first day of her trial. .

She claimed the dating scam was masterminded by someone else, telling the court: “I was naive and used by this person I was in love with.” Co-defendant Victoria Nwogu, 22, also from Greenwich, was cleared of the frauds but appeared in the dock with Akintaro where she admitted laundering £3,490 from the scam. .

Judge Nicholas Heathcote Williams QC freed the women on bail until sentencing on June 20, but told Akintaro: “These were romance frauds and the fact I am ordering a pre-sentence report is no indication as to the sentence. There is a real prospect she will go to prison.”

Akintaro carried out the scam between August 2014 and December 2015. The judge said the men had suffered “psychologically and financially” once they discovered they had been conned.

Akintaro made at least 16 trips to the bank to withdraw money sent by the men, the court heard, raking in a total of £104,962. However, the court heard she only had a £5,000 Renault Clio and a few hundred pounds left, claiming the rest of money was passed on to others in the scheme. The prosecution offered no evidence against Nwogu.

Daniel Entony Daberechukwu has been arraigned in court for allegedly raping a 19-yea right-old campus beauty, Miss United States International University Africa (USIU), Nneka Enyantu Obi.

Daniel denied raping Nneka. The suspect is said to have committed the offence on March 19, 2017,after the complainant attended a friend’s birth day party at Thika Road Mall where the accused was in attendance.

Police allege that all the friends attending the party were drinking alcohol and enjoying the music until 11pm when they switched clubs around the campus. The court heard that around 1.30am, the complainant and Daniel left for the hostel. .

It is then that Daniel allegedly offered to escort Nneka to her room since she was too drunk. Police allege that he started kissing her along the corridors. It is reported that instead of taking her to the room, he took her to his room. .

She woke up to find herself on his bed, while Daniel was on the floor. It wasn’t until she reached her room that she realised her panty was missing and her privates were in pain. .

Daniel has since denied the charge and was set free on Sh500,000 bond and ordered to deposit his passport in court. The matter comes for hearing on June 9, 2017.

A Nigerian drug trafficker has been arrested in Gujarat India, with narcotics worth over $525,000. The 27-year-old Nigerian, identified as Chinedu Okafor, was travelling from Delhi to Goa when he was nabbed on the Madgoan Rajdhani Express train.

Upon searching him, an assortment of drugs was found on him, hidden in his bag and shoes. Found was 843gm of methamphetamine, 255gm of cocaine and 65 gm of ecstasy tablets. The street value of the drugs, was estimated at about $525,000.

2 NIGERIAN DRUG TRAFFICKERS ARRESTED AT THE LAGOS AIRPORT

One of the suspects, Joseph Oparaji Okechukwu, 59, said he was a contractor and blamed the present economic recession in Nigeria for nudging him into drug smuggling. .

The other suspect, Austine Ikenna Nnaji, 41, was identified as a safety officer in Qatar. Mr. Nnaji reportedly feigned ignorance of the content of his luggage, which he claimed to have received from a friend at the airport.

Okechukwu was bound for New York City on Turkish Airlines while Mr. Nnaji was on his way to Doha, Qatar on Ethiopian Airlines. Okechukwu excreted 1.105 kg of brownish substances that tested positive for heroin. Nnaji, was found to have concealed 11.540 kg of marijuana and 490 grams of tramadol in his luggage.
