Few hours after Boko Haram released a video threatening to kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari, four members of the sect riding a motorbike have been killed by soldiers in a shootout at a village in Gaidam Local Government Area of Yobe State .
According to witnesses , the insurgents were spotted by soldiers on patrol near Jororo village at about 3 p. m on Wednesday .
A local government official and resident of Gaidam , Abdullahi Aminu , said one of the insurgents was caught while trying to escape .
“ They were all heavily armed with AK 47 rifles and wore ammunition belts.
“ All of them were on Kasea motorcycles . We don ’ t know their targeted destination, but thank God it was thwarted”, Aminu told PREMIUM TIMES on phone .
At the time of publishing this report , the Nigerian Army was yet to confirm the report , but a soldier in the state , confirmed the incident.
“ You know it is not my job to address the press on matters like this , but what you have is correct ” , he said. “ Those criminals have been evasive for some time but thank God that we have been able to nab them finally ” .
