An hungry thief who stole a pot of soup has been sentenced to 2-days of community service.
It is true that hunger can push one into doing what he never expected. That is the case of 28-year-old Abiodun Ojedokun, who has been sentenced to 2 days of community service for stealing a pot of soup out of hunger.
The jobless convict, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing, before a Magistrates court, sitting in Lagos State.
According to the police prosecutor, ASP Akinlabi Adegoke, the suspect committed the offences on 20 September at 2:00 a.m. at the Onipanu Model Market in Somolu area of the state.
Giving evidence, the prosecutor said:
The accused connived with some others, now at large, to break into one Mrs Gbadamosi Sanni’s shop at 2:00 a.m. They broke the locks and stole her large pot of soup, valued at N8,000.
A weeping Ojedokun pleaded guilty to the charges and asked for leniency, claiming that he committed the offence because he was starving.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, sentenced the convict to 48 hours of community service for each of the three-count charge.
Based on the facts of this case before this court, the confirmed report and your plea of leniency, I hereby sentence you to 48 hours community service on each of the counts of the charge.
You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang
of it! http://setiaqaseh.com.my/index.php/component/k2/itemlist/user/9298
